Death Panels, Rationing, and the Public Option

Despite rumors to the contrary the government is not planning to create death panels or ration health care. But if you think about it, health insurance companies have been doing just that.

Private health insurers have been rationing health car in a big way for at least 10 years now. They decide what treatments are necessary and what are not, and approve or deny claims accordingly. Many people denied claims cannot afford treatment so they get sicker and die.

I would think the government with its tract record in Medicare will try to prevent that. The government operates from a position of compassion so it will do everything it can to help a patient. That's a good thing when it comes to your health.

Private insurance is profit motivated so the bottom line is more important to them than your health. That's a bad thing, and you will die.

The private insurance industry is putting up big money to scare people away from health care reform and the public option. Why? Because health care reform is designed for the best interest of people, not profits.
